Sri Lankan National Sentenced for Illegal Stay in India
A Thane court has punished Arumahaddi Janith Madusangha D’silva, 36, a Sri Lankan national, to one year of extensive imprisonment for illegally living in India. Added Sessions Judge Vasudha L Bhosale released the order on February 20, guiding D’silva’s deportation upon completion of his sentence.
Key realities:
- Founded guilty under the Foreigners Act for residing without valid paperwork.
- Jailed in January 2025 in Kashigaon, Mira Road, without a key or visa.
- Acquitted of disloyalty and imitation charges because of lack of evidence.
