Demand for brand-new autos drops by 2.5% in January

Registrations of brand-new autos dropped by 2.5% final month, numbers reveal.

Industry physique the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said 139,345 brand-new autos have been signed up within the UK in January.

That compares to 142,876 all through the very same month in 2015.

The autumn was pushed by a 15.3% lower in shipments of gasoline autos.

There was a 41.6% spike within the uptake of pure battery electrical autos, inflicting a market share of 21.3%.
