Tharoor Advises Delimitation Might Undermine Federalism
New Delhi– Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has cautioned that the suggested delimitation workout could undercut India’s government equilibrium and marginalize smaller sized states. Talking in Lok Sabha, Tharoor compared the workout to “political demonetisation.”
Bottom line from Tharoor’s address:
- Federal Equilibrium: Delimitation might disturb the equilibrium in between states.
- Population Control: States with efficient population control might be disadvantaged.
- Economic Contribution: States contributing dramatically to the economic situation can be marginalized.
- Women’s Reservation: Connecting females’s depiction to delimitation is holding females’s goals “captive.”
Tharoor advised a comprehensive argument on the problem, warning versus hurrying the process. He recommended taking into consideration international designs for proportional representation.
